Frequently Asked Questions
What is Energy Film?
Energy Film is a thin transparent film that easily applies directly to the inside of any smooth surface such as glass, plexiglas or lexan. Energy Film uses nanoparticles to selectively block the suns energy in the summer and retain heat in the winter.
Where can Energy Film films be applied?
Our window films can be applied directly to any smooth glass, Plexiglas or Lexan surface. They are great for both residential and commercial use.
Are Energy Films easy to Use? Can I install them myself?
Our window films are a simple Do-It-Yourself project. Detailed instructions come rolled up in each product. You only need a few items to complete the installation-a spray bottle, liquid soap, utility knife or scissors, and a towel.
Do Your Products use adhesives?
No. All Energy Film window films are non-adhesive. They adhere to the glass surface by cohesion and atmospheric pressure. Once applied the film will remain on the window until removed.
Do your films provide UV protection?
Yes. Our films provide protection from UV rays A&B: 98% (Energy Film) and 98% (Glare Control). UV protection helps prevent fading on furniture, drapes, and carpets.
Can Energy Film be installed in a bathroom?
Yes, our product can easily be applied in a bathroom or other high moisture areas without problems.
How do I clean the film once it is installed?
Energy Film can be cleaned using any household glass cleaner and a soft cloth or sponge.
How do I remove the films?
Energy Film removes easily. To remove, simply peel the vinyl off the surface of the glass starting from one of the corners. Because there are no adhesives, there will be no messy residue that needs to be removed.
Can I order a custom size?
No. Energy Film does not manufacture custom sizes or designs.
What if my window is larger or smaller than the film?
Energy Film can be cut, or tiled together to fit any sized window. Energy film comes in 3 sizes: 24″ x 48″, 36″ x 48″ and 48″ x 84″. Glare Control comes in three sizes: 36″ x 48″, 48″ x 60″ and 48″ x 84″.
Can Energy Film be applied to the outside of the window?
Yes, just make sure the window is thoroughly cleaned before applying. Energy Film will wear faster on an outside window, due to the elements.
UV Radiation and Plant Growth
Plants rely on photosynthesis to live and grow. They absorb the sun’s radiation as part of the process of making the sugars and proteins that plants need. There are several studies which indicate red and blue visible light are the portions of the solar spectrum most effective in increasing photosynthesis and thereby increasing plant growth.
Eliminating UV radiation should not affect the growth of houseplants. However, reducing visible light and infrared light will slow the process of photosynthesis. Some of this reduction is offset by reducing the infrared rays which may scorch the leaves and reducing temperature swings that can shock plants.
