What a Difference “We installed this window film on all of the south facing windows in our bedroom (including a large arched window). We have central air, but before installation; we were considering purchasing a separate air conditioner for our bedroom due to the extreme temperature difference on sunny days. Now there is no need!! There is a huge difference. Installation was as easy as described in the other reviews, almost too easy to believe. Follow the tips from the other reviewers…and be sure to remove the protective clear backing; it  wasn’t mentioned in the instructions. Other than the minor omission, the instructions were clear and easy to follow. After a few days, all of the small air bubbles disappear. There is a VERY slight color difference due to the film. I don’t think anyone (who didn’t know that we’d applied it) would ever notice the film.

“I live in an area of southern California where summertime temperatures stay around 100 degrees. I installed this window film to cut down on cooling and heating bills and glare in my home. I can tell a difference in those areas. The material is very easy to install and can easily be removed, if desired and used over and over. Just be sure to use plenty of water when installing as this makes it easy to move and adjust as needed. It is better to cut the material on a hard surface with a sharp blade instead of scissors. I used the tinted material and am very pleased with the results.”

Color me impressed…June 16, 2009
By SameGuy from North of the 45th parallel…

“We got a new heat pump installed and I wanted to help it a bit; we have no shade on the southwest side of our house, but lots of windows. I shopped for an easy-to-use film, and found this one. I bought a bunch of them in various sizes to fit all the windows (most films were cut in two to fit narrower panes), and I used a left-over piece to do the small window in our front door.

The toughest — and longest — part of the entire installation was cleaning the glass properly. Use a good cleaner and brown paper towel or newsprint. DO NOT use kitchen paper towel. Blow off any lint (or do a pass with a Swiffer duster) before you spray the soap solution. The film gets extremely static-clingy as you remove the backing, so be sure to handle it quickly and keep it away from your body, hair, clothes, the floor, the crumbs on the coffee table, what have you. If you sprayed enough soap water, it just slides into place. Spray some more over top, then squeegee out the bubbles and mop up the wall and floor below. That’s it. It took me about 5 minutes to clean each indoor pane, another 5 to measure and cut the film and perhaps two minutes to apply and squeegee — ten average-sized windows took less than two and a half hours.

The next day, I could see some visual distortion and some water blisters, but this is normal and clarity should improve over time as the water permeates the film.

On sunny days, we keep the aluminum mini-blinds closed on these windows, and the heat radiating off them is astounding. With the film in place — which does have a very slight, blue tint — the difference is nothing short of amazing. I can barely feel any warmth at all. I’m looking forward to seeing my utility bills now!”
